Which commanders don’t team up well?

Consider both, without prestige and with.

This is tougher to answer than I had anticipated. There are so many combinations and different strategies.

Swann, Karax, and Stettman can be good partners because they augment the other player. Swann is great for gas guzzlers. Karax can get you through upgrades quickly, and Stettman can boost minerals and healing.

I like the Abathur / Han & Horner combo because the entire map is booby trapped and both have a strong air presence. It is a race to see who can do more damage.

Zeratul is a good teammate because he is so flexible. He can play offense or defense or use defense as offense. Teaming him up with someone with a strong map presence can help with finding all the artifacts as fast as possible.

Stukov pairs up well with commanders that benefit from creep. He can also share gas. Kerrigan / Stukov is a great combo because Stukov covers the map in creep quickly and Kerrigan has the malignant creep passive ability that gives all friendly ground units increased healing and attack speed while on creep.

Alarak’s empower me ability and especially the P2 prestige make him a good teammate for commanders that can generate a lot of units quickly like Raynor or Zagara.

There are a bunch of tricks that a highly coordinated team could take advantage of like:

    • Raynor’s medics can heal other bio units
    • Swann can give tech reactors to other Terrans.

I often feel extra pressure when teamed up with Nova or Mengsk, however, that feeling is because people are consistently bad with those commanders. A good player can clear a map on their own with Nova or Mengsk. Nova and Mengsk aren’t exactly team players and having them as a partner can feel lonely. Dehaka is similar that way in that Dehaka does his own thing. Except, Dehaka is more goal oriented than Nova or Mengsk.

Nova and Mengsk have overlapping abilities that makes them not a favorable team. Stukov and Swann tend not to benefit eachother.
