  • All you have proven is that Apple has had recalls in the past. Recalls happen. I’m not sure what point you are trying to make.

Hardware you have not proven at all. You linked to Apple recalls. Who are you comparing them to? Whose products in this space are more trustworthy to you?

Security… here is a list of CVEs Samsung is patching just for August. I’m glad they have SMRs, but what is the uptake? Android 14 has a measly 13% share. 70.5% of iPhones are running the latest iOS. Security patches that don’t get installed don’t provide security. You can’t trust android developers to not exploit the hell out of the android os. The OS wasn’t designed with security in mind and anybody that reads the API can see that. The entire ecosystem can’t be trusted.

    Critical CVE-2024-21461

    High CVE-2024-4610, CVE-2024-0153, CVE-2024-21460, CVE-2024-21465, CVE-2024-21469, CVE-2024-21462, CVE-2024-34724, CVE-2024-34725, CVE-2024-34726, CVE-2024-23373, CVE-2024-23372, CVE-2024-23368, CVE-2024-23380, CVE-2024-26923, CVE-2024-31334, CVE-2024-31335, CVE-2024-20077, CVE-2023-20971, CVE-2023-21351, CVE-2024-34731, CVE-2024-34735, CVE-2024-34737, CVE-2024-34738, CVE-2024-34739, CVE-2024-34740, CVE-2024-34741, CVE-2024-34743, CVE-2024-34736, CVE-2024-34742, CVE-2024-34727, CVE-2024-34745, CVE-2024-34746, CVE-2024-36971, CVE-2024-32896

User friendliness… it is well documented that Apple cares more about users than developers and now, as a result, developers target Apple platforms too. Why? Because developers follow the users. It doesn’t matter how enticing Microsoft is for developers, if there aren’t users, developers will leave. Because Microsoft can’t be trusted and constantly screw over their users. Microsoft is only still in use because they have plenty of monopolies. Every time one of their monopolies falls, users flock to their competitor. Microsoft cannot be trusted to execute. Zune, Windows Phone, Kinect. Office has been replaced. Xbox replaced. And windows is being replaced.

Here is an analysis of usability and reliability that sums it all up in terms we all understand. Money. Macs are cheaper than PCs.

    This debate is over. ^

  • The quality of the football is much more important than where players are from and whether they have team pride or not. The business aspect is necessary to produce good, competitive football. It’s the media that wants to turn the contract negotiations into a song and dance and it is the viewers that let them.

If Aiyuk can be the consummate 49ers WR while not wanting to be a 49er, then we have nothing to be upset about. He has been showing up and being a good teammate. I think Aiyuk wants to be one of the top paid WRs in the league AND be a 49er.

I like the idea of the 49ers being made up of people from all over; all coming together for one goal, for the chance to be part of a team that goes after the highest award in all of sports, the Lombardi Trophy.

  • Where’s a list of recalls for non Apple devices for comparison?

I’ve had several devices that should have been recalled and weren’t so good on Apple for recalling anything at all.

Did you read the wiki leaks for chained exploits to achieve privilege escalation on various devices? Apple devices had the smallest attack surface by far and had already patched several vectors before they leaked.

With android, you had several paths to choose from to achieve full control of the device for each and every android version, and the likelihood that a device was patched, if a patch existed at all, was extremely low. Patch releases would lag published exploits for years.

Apple has always used the right hardware for the job, while others add as much power as possible to hide the fact their software / hardware marriage is abysmal.

And now there is Apple silicon, which is even better!

    • Hardware: Winner Apple
    • Software: Winner Apple
    • Security: Winner Apple
    • User friendliness: Winner Apple

This is tougher to answer than I had anticipated. There are so many combinations and different strategies.

Swann, Karax, and Stettman can be good partners because they augment the other player. Swann is great for gas guzzlers. Karax can get you through upgrades quickly, and Stettman can boost minerals and healing.

I like the Abathur / Han & Horner combo because the entire map is booby trapped and both have a strong air presence. It is a race to see who can do more damage.

Zeratul is a good teammate because he is so flexible. He can play offense or defense or use defense as offense. Teaming him up with someone with a strong map presence can help with finding all the artifacts as fast as possible.

Stukov pairs up well with commanders that benefit from creep. He can also share gas. Kerrigan / Stukov is a great combo because Stukov covers the map in creep quickly and Kerrigan has the malignant creep passive ability that gives all friendly ground units increased healing and attack speed while on creep.

Alarak’s empower me ability and especially the P2 prestige make him a good teammate for commanders that can generate a lot of units quickly like Raynor or Zagara.

There are a bunch of tricks that a highly coordinated team could take advantage of like:

    • Raynor’s medics can heal other bio units
    • Swann can give tech reactors to other Terrans.

I often feel extra pressure when teamed up with Nova or Mengsk, however, that feeling is because people are consistently bad with those commanders. A good player can clear a map on their own with Nova or Mengsk. Nova and Mengsk aren’t exactly team players and having them as a partner can feel lonely. Dehaka is similar that way in that Dehaka does his own thing. Except, Dehaka is more goal oriented than Nova or Mengsk.

Nova and Mengsk have overlapping abilities that makes them not a favorable team. Stukov and Swann tend not to benefit eachother.

    Best (No Prestige)

    • Abathur / Han & Horner
    • Kerrigan / Stukov

    Best (Prestige)

    • Alarak (P2) / Raynor (P1)
    • Stukov (P3) / Zeratul (P2)
    • Vorazun (P1 or P3) / Zeratul (P3)
    • Fenix (P2) / Karax (P0)

    Worst (No Prestige)

    • Nova / Mengsk
    • Karax / Vorazun
    • Stukov / Swann

    Worst (Prestige)

  • In no particular order:

    • The Last Witch Hunter (2015) Vin is trying
    • Maverick (1994)
    • Serenity (2005) I know it is wrapping up Firefly, but why? Keep it going!
    • Underwater (2020) I hope they make 10
    • Deadwood (2019)
    • Beerfest (2006) Where’s Potfest?
    • Con Air (1997) You’re telling me this only happened once?
    • American Ultra (2015) Release activated Mike on the world. Or maybe the government is at it again with someone else.
    • The Faculty (1998) Attempt number two
    • Sky High (2005)
    • The Princess Bride (1987)
    • Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993)
    • Constantine (2005) Already mentioned by u/[email protected]. Fingers crossed it happens
    • Dredd (2012) Already mentioned by u/[email protected].
    • Old Guard (2020) Supposedly done. Not released.

I was surprised at how many movies have sequels I didn’t know about.

  • Co-op is making a comeback!

    Playing right now:

    • Helldivers 2
    • Hunt: Showdown

Ideas based on games you mentioned:

    • Divinity 2
    • Remnant
    • Wasteland 3
    • Crayta
    • Medieval Dynasty (haven’t actually tried coop on this yet, but single player was great)

    Interesting team dynamics:

    • Deep Rock Galactic
    • Lethal Company
    • Rimworld (Coop is wild)
    • Aliens: Fireteam Elite

    Surprisingly Engaging:

    • Journey to the Savage Planet

    Nintendo:

    • Donkey Kong Country 1, 2, and 3
    • Contra / Contra 3 (I think there is a new one coming)
    • TMNT Turtles in Time (There is a new TMNT already out too)
    • Bubble Bobble

    Keep coming back to it:

    • StarCraft II Coop (free to play now)
    • Diablo II Resurrected (still better than III/IV/Last Epoch/Grimm Dawn etc.)
    • Portal 2 (lots of challenges to complete)
